Coyne Airways launches the only freighter service to Ashgabat & Turkmenbashi

Coyne Airways is pleased to announce the launch of a fortnightly scheduled freighter service to Ashgabat and Turkmenbashi.  The service will commence 13 May 2009 and will operate via the Coyne hub in Tbilisi.

The services will be operated by the IL76 freighter, capable of carrying a payload of 45,000kg and outsize cargo to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry.  The flights will offer a seamless connection within 3 hours to the arrival in Tbilisi of Coyne’s 747-400 freighter from London Stansted and Cologne-Bonn, meaning a departure to arrival transit time from Cologne to Ashgabat of approximately 12 hours.  From the USA Ashgabat can be served in under 72 hours.

Commenting on the services to Turkmenistan, Coyne Commercial Director Tony D’Arcy states, “Currently the only way for shippers to move cargo to Ashgabat and Turkmenbashi is by using passenger carriers which limits the size of shipments that can be carried and are often subject to backlogs.  For larger shipments they are forced to use indirect services involving trucking and infrequent ferry services across the Caspian Sea.  These services from Coyne will significantly improve the transit time and reliability of moving cargo to Turkmenistan”

Coyne can accept cargo for Turkmenistan at airports around Europe, North America and Asia.
